Essential Oil of Oregano Vulgare
Origanum Vulgare Oregano Oil, is the most popular oil of oregano sold as an immune booster. Origanum compactum is the second most popular oregano oil.
Origanum vulgare is the botanical name for the oregano plant that is distilled for this popular essential oil. As a spice ‘Oregano’ Vulgare is used to flavor tea or food. The essential oil of oregano has several medicinal uses as an antibiotic and in aromatherapy. Oregano vulgare has two primary symbiotic components, carvacrol and thymol, and a complementary rosmarinic acid, a powerful antioxidant that helps protect against damage caused by free radicals.
One of the active components in oregano oil is thymol, this phenol is structurally similar to menthol, which is found in peppermint and is known to relax the soft tissue of the stomach and throat.
The oregano oil’s antioxidant aspect seems to be comparable to vitamin C ex vivo (outside the body).
The carvacrol found within oregano essential oil, enables it to be classed a natural antibiotic, capable of killing and fighting bacteria. Staphylococcus aureus, a particularly nasty bacteria can cause a range of skin ailments and infections.
Origanum vulgare is a natural antibiotic, antiseptic, anti-microbial and anti-oxidant supplement with thousands of years of use from the home to the battlefield. Fighting infection, wound care and killing harmful pathogens has oregano oil multi-tasking.
Natural Ant-fungal Yeast Infections
Candida is a type of fungus that can grow both outside and inside humans. Overgrowth of Candida can have gut-wrenching effects, including infections and unstable bowels.
Candida is by far the most common yeast infections in humans. Studies have shown oregano essential oil to be highly effective in fighting against up to five different types of fungal infections. Vaginal yeast infection and oral thrush are some of the worst yeast of these infections.
Digestive system Parasites
Gut parasites can cause symptoms of diarrhea, bloating and pain. Studies have shown oregano oil to dramatically reduce symptoms caused by parasites.
Oregano oil may also help protect against another common intestinal complaint known as “leaky gut” This happens when the gut wall becomes damaged, allowing toxins and bacteria to pass into the bloodstream.
Anti Inflammatory Properties
Any inflammation causes a number of adverse health implications for a person. Research indicates that regular doses of oregano essential oil can actually limit inflammation significantly.
One example of a study of colitis sufferers controlled their inflammation by using oregano mixed with olive oil 50/50.
The anti-inflammatory nature of oregano’s carvacrol is linked with its ability to reduce all types of inflammation.
This essential oregano oil contains volatile phenols, that are known for the odor they emit as they turn to gas. These gases generally have antiseptic, anti-microbial and anti-oxidant effects as they disperse aggressively throughout the body;
• Carvacrol: The most abundant phenol in oregano oil has been shown to stop the growth of several different types of bacteria,
• Thymol: A natural antifungal that can also support the immune system and protect against toxins.
• Rosmarinic acid.
Antioxidants keep free radicals in check. Oregano essential oil is a powerful antioxidant, and is used to fight excessive build-ups of free radicals caused by cigarette smoke, air pollution and some foods.
Oregano contains 3–30 times the levels of antioxidants than other herbs tested.
Antioxidants help protect the body from damage caused by free radicals.
Free radical damage plays a role in the development of some diseases such as cancer and heart disease and in aging. Free radicals build up in the body through exposure to environmental factors.
